Liberty Table

Hand repairing an intricate wooden and mother-of-pearl inlaid design.

Large areas of Mother of Pearl were missing on this rather elaborate table originally retailed by Liberty of London.

Woodworking tools on a decorative inlaid table.

Following quite a bit of research, the missing centre motif was reconstructed from wood veneer.

There are many types of Mother of Pearl so it was important to use the correct one. Once sourced, it was carefully thinned, trimmed and patinated before applying to the panels.

Various missing wood veneer was also replaced, painted and patinated.

That's better.

Following a gentle polish, the table is as good as new.
